Description
Theatre is a form of expression that has shaped society and human communication for millennia, influencing how people (and communities) collaborate, solve problems, cope, and react to difficulties.
In today’s classrooms and workplace environments, theatre-based methods continue to offer powerful tools for improving teamwork, conveying social values in an entertaining way, and, most importantly, finding new and more creative ways of teaching.
This hands-on course will introduce participants to a wide range of theatrical techniques designed to strengthen collaboration and enrich both teaching and professional practice.
Thanks to a practical and immersive approach, this course will explore four essential dimensions of theatre: integration, immersion, interaction, and interdisciplinarity.
Participants will discover warm-up routines that can be used in everyday situations at school or at the workplace, improvisation techniques (inspired by renowned theatre expert Viola Spolin) that help boost confidence and lead to more varied presentation skills.
They will also have the chance to experiment with interdisciplinary forms of theatre (including puppet theatre, object theatre, storytelling, shadow theatre, and physical theatre), and discover how these creative tools can foster motivation, empathy, and engagement in any group setting.
These newly acquired theatrical tools will help reinforce group dynamics, reduce performance anxiety, and support personal and professional development.
In fact, all proposed activities are grounded in research showing that theatre activities increase effectiveness and long-term success in education and group interaction, whether in a classroom or workplace environment.
Whether working with students or colleagues, participants will gain strategies to reduce the “stage fever”, promote open dialogue, encourage collaborative problem-solving, and create inclusive environments.
Everything will, finally, culminate in a collaborative mini-show, directed, staged, and performed by the participants themselves – a practical and enjoyable way to consolidate the skills learned throughout the week.
By the end of this course, educators and professionals will feel equipped to manage their teams more confidently in a more creative, interactive, and “non-conventional” way, using theatrical techniques (in school classes and workplaces) to inspire participation, expressiveness, and meaningful group connection.
