Day 1 – Introduction to the course and differentiated teaching
Introduction to the course, the school, and the external week activities;
Icebreaker activities;
Presentations of the participants’ schools;
Explore the principles and importance of differentiated instruction tailored to the unique needs of gifted students;
Understand the characteristics of gifted learners and how they differ from their peers. The session will cover the foundational concepts and set the stage for practical application throughout the course.
Day 2 – Identifying and understanding giftedness
Dive into the identification process of gifted students, including common traits, myths, and challenges;
Learn to distinguish between high achievers and truly gifted learners. This session will also discuss the role of educators and parents in supporting gifted students.
Day 3 – Strategies for differentiating content
Learn specific strategies for differentiating content, processes, and products in the classroom. This includes practical techniques for adjusting curriculum complexity, offering choice, and using tiered assignments to meet the varied needs of gifted students.
Day 4 – Creating an inclusive classroom environment
Focus on fostering a classroom environment that nurtures both the academic and emotional needs of gifted students. Topics include classroom management, promoting social-emotional learning, and ensuring that all students feel challenged and supported.
Day 5 – Practical applications and assessment
Apply the knowledge gained over the week through hands-on activities, case studies, and collaborative discussions. Explore different methods of assessing gifted students, both formatively and summatively, to ensure they are adequately challenged and engaged.
Day 6 – Course closure and cultural activities
Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance;
Excursion and other external cultural activities.
