1 Novi Sad is the centre of culture in Serbia and beyond

Novi Sad was selected to be the 2022 European Capital of Culture, a project which was launched in 1985 by the European Union to display the richness and diversity of European Cultures. The city was selected to be the Capital of Culture by an expert panel of 10 people from the fields of culture and art who decided that they loved Novi Sad’s proposal based on 4 New Bridges, which represents the idea that artists in Novi Sad and Serbia are exchanging ideas and cooperating with artists from the rest of Europe. In fact, Novi Sad was one of the first cities outside of the European Union to be selected for this title.

Novi Sad is home to one of the most important universities (with around 50,000 students attending it) in Serbia and is, therefore, a magnet for young people from other parts of Serbia and other former Yugoslav republics. The title for the European Youth Capital was awarded to Novi Sad in 2019.

3 Enjoy a vibrant city in Southeast Europe

Despite its small size, this city never sleeps. It boasts a lot of cafes, restaurants, and nightclubs, which are located in either the city center or by the Danube River.

Novi Sad is immensely proud of its annual music festival Exit Festival which was founded in 2000 and is held in July every year. Novi Sad is the administrative center of Vojvodina, a northern province in Serbia. The city lies on the Danube River and overlooks Fruška Gora, a mountain and national park. The nearest airport is Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and it only takes one hour of driving to reach it.

Thanks to its history you will enjoy the cultural heritage of many nations (Serbs, Hungarian, Slovaks, and others) in terms of architecture, cultural places of interest, religious monuments, and gastronomic experience.
